Refuse Collection

Refuse, recycling and yard waste collection is Tuesday of each week. Beginning May 2022, the City will now offer bulk pick-up each week during your regular refuse pick-up. This will replace the once a month bulk pick-up that was occurring dividing the city between east and west. Please limit your bulk items to four items each week. Since it is possible for route and personnel changes to take place periodically, please be sure to place your trash out at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on collection day, even if your refuse, recycling and yard waste is seemingly picked up at the same time each week. If you miss any of the collections because you did not get your items out before the truck goes by your home, they will not be able to come back and you will need to remove the items from the curb and put them out on time the following week.

Refuse is billed at a flat monthly rate. Please contact North Ridgeville Public Utilities Department for current refuse pricing. Senior citizens 62 or older may apply for a discounted rate (see application) and may also qualify and apply for a discounted rate, Homestead Exemption, through the Lorain County Auditor's Office.

Weekly Bulk Pick-Up
Bulky waste items such as furniture, mattresses, stoves, washers, dryers, water tanks and extra trash may only be left at the curb for collection each week at your regular refuse pick-up. This will replace the once a month bulk pick-up that was occurring dividing the city between east and west. Please limit your bulk items to four items each week.

Delayed Refuse Pick-Up
Pick-up is only delayed one day if a legally recognized major holiday falls on Monday or Tuesday of that week.
  • Monday or Tuesday Holiday - delayed one day with trash pick up on Wednesday.
  • Wednesday-Sunday Holiday - These holidays will not affect the weekly collection schedule.

Our current refuse hauler does not work on the following holidays:

  • New Years Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Christmas Day

All other holidays will not affect the weekly collection schedule.
