Full Time Firefighter/Paramedic Class D
Full Time Patrol Officer Step 1

Civil Service Commission is offering open, competitive written examinations to establish an eligibility list for BOTH entry level Patrol Officer Step 1 and entry level Firefighter/Paramedic Class D positions. Testing and applications will be accepted from December 2, 2024 to February 17, 2025. Full Testing services for both positions of Patrol Officer Step 1 and Firefighter/Paramedic Class D are through National Testing Network (NTN).

Police Dispatcher
Department: Police Department

Salary: $25.53 per hour plus benefits
Reports To: Police Chief
Working Hours: Vary, 24/7 operating hours, including weekends and holidays as required

This position assists the public and sworn personnel by either phone call, radio or in-person at the police station and provides the appropriate police response or assistance needed in as timely a manner as possible. This position also includes various other clerical and non-clerical duties needed for the efficient operation of the police department.

Minimum Qualifications: Eighteen years of age or older and possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in similar roles a plus but not required. Qualified candidates must have computer skills, be dependable, willing to work weekends and holidays, able to multi-task, prioritize, remain calm during stressful conditions and have contact with the public both in person and on the phone. Shift choices are bid by seniority and are 8 hours in length with rotating days off. A thorough background investigation will be conducted.

The Civil Engineer II (PE) is an advanced professional position that provides the Engineering Division with engineering design, technical documentation and project management of in-house public works projects and performs a variety of technical tasks. See the job description for more details.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a minimum of three (3) years of experience as Ohio licensed professional engineer with valid Ohio P.E. license. A master’s degree in civil engineering may be substituted for years of P.E. experience, but applicant must have valid Ohio P.E. license at time of application. Experience in design and inspection of public works projects is preferred. Possession of a valid State of Ohio driver’s license, must be able to qualify for and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.

Assistant Chief Building Official
Department: Building Division

Salary Range: $82,000-$96,000
Reports To: Chief Building Official
Working Hours: Normal business hours with some evening meetings as assigned

Under the general supervision of the Chief Building Official, this is an advanced technical and supervisory position. The Assistant Chief Building Official assists in the administration and enforcement of the state building code, city building and property maintenance ordinances, zoning and other related regulations through supervisory, inspection, review and enforcement duties. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. College degree, training and/or education in architecture, engineering or construction management preferred. Five years of experience in building construction or as a general contractor or superintendent of building construction dealing with all phases and trades of construction. Inspection and plan review experience for commercial and residential structures a plus. Must have great communication skills and work well with the general public.

Licensure and certification requirements include:
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License; must remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
• State of Ohio Board of Building Standards Certification for Building Official or an interim certificate with the ability to obtain a permanent certificate within 6 months of hire.
• State of Ohio Board of Building Standards Certification for Residential Building Official.
• Building Inspector Certification and additional certification in one of the building and construction trades, such as electrical or plumbing, preferred.
