Support Services

Many of us take independence for granted. But when you are living alone and trying to stay independent as long as possible, sometimes you need a little help. Support services are there to help seniors maintain independence, to assist with the numerous questions that arise after retirement and to be a source of information for and about seniors. An example of support includes referrals and linkage to social service agencies, home health care, support groups and other elderly care programs. Supportive services are provided to seniors 60 and older. If you need assistance, or if you have any questions, call (440) 490-2057, Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

MEALS-ON-WHEELS
The Senior Center offers a Meals-on-Wheels program to adults 60 years and older. A nutritious meal is delivered before 11:00 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays for a total of five meals per week by one of our friendly volunteer drivers. It is our goal to provide a nutritious mid-day meal to eligible clients, however, we are unable to accommodate special diets (e.g. low salt, diabetic). For eligibility requirements, call (440) 490-2057.

TRANSPORTATION
NEED A RIDE? CALL US! If you are 60 or over and unable to drive, we can help! Our vans operate during the week and our friendly drivers would be glad to take you to your appointment or to run an errand. An assessment by our case manager is required prior to your first transport. Trips are provided for banking, routine medical appointments, shopping and activities held at our Center. To avoid scheduling conflicts, we ask that arrangements be made in advance by calling (440) 490-2057. We transport Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. A donation of $1.00 each way for local transports and $2.00 each way for longer distances is requested. Additional monetary donations are always welcome.

Lorain County Transportation Guide
The Mobility Management Program is an essential service that improves access to transportation with an emphasis on seniors, persons with disabilities, low-income and the workforce. This is a program under the Ohio Department of Transportation. Lorain County Mobility Management is housed locally at United Way of Greater Lorain County. The Lorain County Transportation Guide is a reference for transportation options and resources in Lorain County.

LOCK BOX PROGRAM
A lockbox saves damage to your property and saves time for our paramedics should they need to access your home in an emergency. The Senior Center and Fire Department are proud to provide this program to North Ridgeville residents.
