Child Safety Seat Installation

Did you know that 75-90% of car seats aren’t installed properly? Ohio’s child passenger safety law requires the following:

  • Children less than 4 years old or 40 pounds must use a child safety seat meeting federal motor vehicle safety standards.
  • Children less than 8 years old, unless they are at least 4 feet, 9 inches tall must use a booster seat.
  • Children ages 8-15 must use a child safety seat or safety belt.
The Fire Department offers FREE car seat installations and checks. An appointment is required to ensure one of our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians are on duty to assist you. Appointments can be made by filling out the form below. When you come in for your appointment please bring:

  • The car seat to be installed and the owner's manual (usually available online from the manufacturer if you can't find it)
  • Your vehicle's owner's manual
  • The child who will ride in the seat
