In response to the increasing number of Hyundai vehicles being targeted by thieves the company has started rolling out a free anti-theft software upgrade that prevents certain Hyundai vehicles from being started in ways recently popularized on social media channels. If you own or lease a Hyundai vehicle that was produced prior to November 2021 that has a key ignition it may not have the necessary engine immobilizer that deters vehicle thieves. If you live in North Ridgeville and own a Hyundai, please come to the police station with proof of ownership to claim your free steering wheel lock.
